Arquebus Delivers Ballistic Examination Training in Montenegro

Ballistic Training

Arquebus delivered ballistic examination training to the Forensic Centre in Danilovgrad on behalf of the OSCE Mission to Montenegro.

The two participants successfully completed ballistics examination training as part of the OSCE Security Cooperation and Governance Programme’s Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) Project in Montenegro. The training provided the necessary expertise to identify and compare ballistic toolmarks using a comparison microscope, improving the capacity of Montenegrin authorities to investigate SALW-related crime.

The training consisted of a Basic Comparison Microscopy and Triage Course and an Advanced Comparison Microscopy Course. Participants have enhanced their skills in comparison microscopy, so they can effectively visualise toolmarks, identify and analyse class and subclass characteristics, and complete evidential microscopy photography, as well as implement a triaging comparison methodology and an open case file check comparison methodology.

Montenegro’s Forensic Director, Dr Sandra Kovacevic, praised the quality of the ballistic examination training delivered by Arquebus’ Henrik Larsen: “The Forensic Centre is very satisfied with the training, and Henrik has been great in every sense.”

The delivered training builds upon Arquebus’ previous activities enhancing SALW control in the Western Balkans (WB). Working in partnership with UNDP SEESAC, Arquebus contributed to the scoping, establishment and enhancement of National Firearm Focal Points (NFFPs) in the WB in support of the SALW Control Roadmap 2024 through several projects. Arquebus has also delivered Double Casting Kits, ballistics forensics and intelligence training programmes in seven locations across the WB as part of an EU-funded UNDP SEESAC initiative.

Arquebus offers unparalleled training and development solutions to assist its clients in building their SALW forensics and intelligence capacity.
